“Twilight in Paradise was the original title that I came up with for this totally fictitious scene.
The painting brought together elements of some photos I had taken in Cabbage Key as well as pure imagination.
I think boats have a certain beauty about them. Also, I just like to paint boats and water. ”

“I looked into the neighbor’s yard across the street and was admiring the coconuts. The tree just inspired me to paint it.
The second palm in the background was added for balance in the composition. So, I painted a lovely bunch of coconuts.”

The original painting was inspired after spontaneously shooting a photo one beautiful afternoon. It was captured while passing by the Cape Coral Yacht Club, walking distance from the artist’s home.
"I always liked boats. I actually built four in my lifetime with my dad. So, I have always had an affinity for incorporating boats and water scenes in my art.”

“I was inspired by another artist who painted a large panel of dolphins. So, when I came across a suitable canvas, I decided to do something similar.
I already liked the subject of dolphins, but my challenge would be to create movement throughout the composition. It was actually fun working on this, as the canvas began to come to life.”

“This tree used to be steps from my back door.
I always enjoyed looking out at the massive, powerful, spreading root system, which is the nature of banyan trees.
One day, I could not resist painting it anymore.”

“My original name for this painting was Backwater, since I photographed this boat in the backwaters of Matlacha, Florida.
It was brand new, however, I took some artistic license to ‘age’ the boat about 50 years.” ~ Michael Roush
